Exotherm convince with dynamic and varying Songs and vocals full of mutability that cover everything from melancholic passages to aggressive shouts.
Traditional Heavy, Power and Thrash Metal meets influences from several other Metal genres and sometimes modern elements, but alway without being NU.
So the multifarious songs and the cathy tunes appeal to a big audience.
Characteristic for Exotherm is the mood on our concerts.
Singer Georg is a real frontman, who includes the audience in the program while around at the stage there is really someting going on.
Guitar player Alex with his scream cares for additional hardness and when we send up the temperatur in the club by several degreeses, everyone knows that Exotherm even set free the energy of the audience.
And that is where the band's name comes from…
Exotherm was born in 1998 by Alexander Braikrats (g, v), Christian Pirch (g), Nikolas Müller (b) and Pascal Azzolin (dr) in Wipperfürth (40km east of Köln / Cologne, Germany).
Georg Laudenberg (v) joined 1999 with his amazing voice and his gift to work with the audience.
We run the Band to move the audience and have fun, what we proofed on many small and several bigger gigs and festivals.
Our plans for the future are: playing even more gigs to set the audience on fire and writing even more good songs, which are not following any trends, but fulfil our idea of good music.
Our Album "project 47" was released by our Label "Limited Access Records" worldwide.
There will be a new album in early 2007 and we are really looking forward to this.

NOCTURNALHALL.COM about our album project 47:
The first time I got to know about EXOTHERM was on the Visions Of Metal Compilation II. My review about the sampler and ergo about the band attracted attention by the band itself whereupon they have sent their first and self-financed album Project 47 to our office, which is now object of acrobatic word formations.
To cut a long story short: EXOTHERM rocks as hell! Power Metal of first class, with sense for melodies and intelligent arrangements. Anywhere I have read something about Rage influences. Is not really wrong as long as you turn the time back about 15 years. Already opener Believe In God captivates you, spreads good vibrations and let your head bang enthusiastically. But the intro … was that taken from anywhere? I mean, is it a known theme? However, it’s all with aggressive chord progressions, guitar wise, full of energy and especially the voice of singer Georg Laudenberg gives an agile touch to the music. But who sings tracks like Thoughts Like Poison and What To Think with a voice Daniel Brennare (Lake Of Tears) could not have sung it better? Guitar player Alexander Braikrats? Next outstanding song has to be It’s Time, which again has such a known melody, at least to me. Is that a cover version? If not, wow, guys you got it! And at all, great songs, good production and that’s all on the very first self-financed record! I take my hat off! And YOU should listen to Project 47! Get in touch with band via their homepage and for just 6€ you can purchase your own copy. And I have warmly recommend this piece to the reaper …

BURNING-AMBITION.NET about our album "project 47":
The name of this young band here has got the meaning the give away energy or heat. Ok, I'm no warm brother so I'll turn around to the energy. PROJECT 47 is an album against all commercial trends and offers good and various music. But of course this can be the fact that old and heavy Metaller will have their problems with this release. Here you'll find neither black or white. Here you'll get the result of experiments with different influences and inspirations. As also done in the chemistry where the band-name has it's roots. The basic tendency of the band I would see in the traditional Heavy Metal. But this is very various in the separate songs so that could be a superficial assessment. Power Metal based riffing and Thrash parts are changing with Goth-influences reminding at Sentenced or Lake Of Tears. But also Heavy Rock-tendencies 'Icarus' are offered here. Surprise-factor guaranteed. Who wants to leave the grey Metal days and doesn't want to abstain on genre-typical characteristics should try on EXOTHERM in any case. The mixture on PROJECT 47 is well done, only the sound is not really exciting in some directions. But nevertheless PROJECT 47 is really the right stuff to leave energy. How you'll make it is absolutely your turn :-)
While listening 'Thoughts Like Poison' immediately my thoughts reminded me at Swedish Gothic a la Lake Of Tears to their legendary Headstones-times. Brilliant. A certain similarity in the Voicing with Daniel Brennare is given here. Songs like 'What To Think' or 'Come Home!' also could be made by Sentenced to their Down era. Here my ears wants to make me believe that Ville Laihiala stands behinds the micro. With 'Icarus' there's a track on PROJECT 47 for the silent and emotional moments offering Heavy Rock sounding like old Icon or Triumph. If your ears only wants to hear Steel-Blood-Sword you'll have some problems with this album in first sight. A little bit of curiosity must be given to you to give this EXOTHERN release your full attention. But for all Banger with roots in the Power/Thrash/Death genre it will be a welcome alternation. I really like it when it bursts and hard, Thrash Metal like riffing is meeting untamed power and when in the next moment silent and atmospheric arrangements let time to breathe. The EXOTHERM guys are creating a really successful, variation-rich and convincing mixture out off their musical influences. The voice of Shouter Georg Laudenberg is like an chameleon and changes according to generate the necessary atmosphere. But not all screams are made by him :-) In conclusion PROJECT 47 offers first-class Metal that let you bang your head. If the boys are able to follow their willful way they're able to make create some special surprises in the future. Only the production could have been better. In some parts the necessary power is missing for me. But that is not really a problem when we remind us about the age of the boys. In song-writing and performance their songs have got a alarming precision and a high level of musicality. And that from guys that are already green behind the ears :-) So give this Newcomer a chance to open your mind for something new !!
Metal On
Believe In God The intro reminds me at something?? But I don’t know at what. But great. After it a Power Metal Infernö. By the 'Dance with the devil'-Part I could swear, the Prince Of Darkness Ossy Osbourne himself is singing here :-) Well-done entry in a Metal album of a different kind.
Thoughts Like Poison THE hammer on this album. Goes straight into the ear and burns in the brain. In the end a real explosion. Unmerciful riffing. Boah ...
It's Time Screams like purgatory, awful old Metallica-like riffs. This tracks rocks like hell. Cool!
Come Home! Brilliant smasher. Also held in the dark Finnish ambience. Animal-like screams of guitarist Alex, that want to eaten up the listener !!

METAL-OBSERVER.COM about our album "project 47":
From around Cologne, more precisely Wipperfürth, hail EXOTHERM, a new young band, which's members are in their early 20s, so are still at the beginning of their career, even though the band already had been founded in 1998. Apparently the 8-tracker "Project 47" is their first release, so you definitely cannot complain about a hasty plan they are following, in most cases this is better anyway, if a band does not fire out a CD right after the first rehearsal.
The quintet ventures into the realms of traditional, rough Heavy Metal, which has its roots in the 80s, but does not completely leave out more current sounds, making the whole thing sound modern, but without sounding modern modern, you still with me? Above a very solid riff skeleton we have the variable voice of fronter Georg Laudenberg, who has a powerful roar in his repertoire as well as great melodies (and here and there, as on "Come Home!" even belts out some growls and a slightly distorted voice), leaving his mark on the songs.
Some of you might know the song "It's Time" off the second part of the "Visions Of Metal" series, the general opinion about it is that it is one of the highlights of that compilation and I agree with them (which at the same time also explains why the name of EXOTHERM sounded so damn familiar when I got the CD out of the envelope). Rough and fresh are the eight songs, which based on Heavy Metal also induces some elements from Power and some Thrash Metal (just listen to the closing "4…1…"), plus the already mentioned modern touch, which comes through especially with tracks such as the strong opener "Believe In God" (sounds greatly old school, with strong melodies and unpolished vocals!), "Icarus" or the already mentioned "It's Time", which apart from the not too clean production (for an indie release still more than acceptable, though) do not have to hide behind a whole bunch of signed acts. Also remarkable is the intro for "Believe In God", very atmospheric and haunting, great start for an album!
For a debut "Project 47" has turned out to be really good and should appeal to all fans of rough Heavy Metal, no matter if from the 80s or 90s (right, Ralf and Hawk?), who would like to check that out, can order the CD for just 6 Euro at www.exotherm.net. The guys definitely have potential! (Online January 10, 2004)
